Scholarships for Continuing Undergraduate Students

Learn about scholarships that are administered by UCSD for continuing undergraduates.

Please note:

How to apply for the UCSD continuing undergraduate scholarships listed below:

  1. You can apply online for many of the continuing undergraduate scholarships listed below. Look for the online application in early December, using the Financial Aid tool.
    • Review the Continuing Undergraduate Scholarship Guidelines (PDF) for details on completing your application and any additional eligibility requirements.
    • File your online application by 11:30 p.m., February 23, 2009.
    • Correct or update your online application any time up to the deadline.
  2. Some scholarships require a paper application and will have different deadlines. Refer to the list below to find PDFs.
  3. File your FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) by March 2 to demonstrate that you meet the financial need criterion, if applicable (read more about FAFSA).
  4. Based on the information you provided in steps 1, 2, and 3 above, UCSD will consider you for any UCSD scholarships you qualify for.
  5. Eligibility is limited to United States citizens or permanent residents (green card holders).
  6. UCSD will e-mail you notification of any scholarship awards in June. Check your application status online using the Financial Aid tool.

  • Alumni Leadership Scholarship

  • C.B. Arrott Gay, Lesbian, and Bisexual Scholarship

    • Awarded to: Current gay, lesbian, and bisexual students with a record of active service and involvement in the gay, lesbian, and bisexual community
    • Type: Restricted (based on academic merit plus additional criteria)
    • Award amount and term: A 1-year award up to $1,000
    • Application deadline: March 13, 2009
    • Paper application? Yes. Pick it up at UCSD's LGBT Center or download the form (PDF).
  • Charles and Clara Ash Scholarship

  • BAE Systems Scholarship

  • Bay Area Alumni Scholarship

  • Darcy and Robert Bingham Endowed Scholarship

    • Awarded to: Current full-time students in good academic standing, employed by UCSD Recreation, UCSD Student Affairs, or UCSD who work an average of 15 hours per week during the 3-quarter academic year and who have worked at least 1 quarter prior to submitting the application. Recommendations from supervisors should indicate you provided exceptional service, commitment, or contribution to the department.
    • Type: Restricted (based on academic merit plus additional criteria)
    • Award amount and term: A 1-year award up to $1,500
    • Application deadline: April 3, 2009
    • Paper application? Yes. Pick it up at UCSD's Scholarship Office or download the form (PDF).
  • Errett Bishop Scholarship

  • Boeing Engineering Scholarship

  • F. Thomas Bond Revelle College Scholarship

  • Braille Transcribers Guild Scholarship

    • Awarded to: Current students who are legally blind or have substantial, uncorrectable vision loss
    • Type: Restricted (based on academic merit plus additional criteria)
    • Award amount and term: A 1-year award up to $1,000 per year
    • Paper application? No. Candidates are selected in March from the students registered with UCSD's Office for Students with Disabilities.
  • Julia Brown Undergraduate Scholarship

  • Brutten Family Scholarship

    • Awarded to: Full-time students who will be juniors in 2008-2009, with a 3.0+ GPA, financial need, and demonstrated campus or community leadership at UCSD
    • Type: Restricted (based on academic merit plus additional criteria).
    • Award amount and term: A 2-year award up to $2,000 per year
  • Gregory T. Bryan Scholarship

  • Cambon Family Scholarship

    • Awarded to: Full-time students who will be juniors in 2008-2009, with a 3.0+ GPA, financial need, and demonstrated campus or community leadership at UCSD
    • Type: Restricted (based on academic merit plus additional criteria)
    • Award amount and term: A 2-year award up to $2,000 per year
  • CK and Jenny Cheng Scholarship

  • Dottie Conway Memorial Scholarship

    • Awarded to: Full-time students who will be juniors in 2008-2009, have a 3.0+ GPA and financial need, and have demonstrated campus or community leadership at UCSD
    • Type: Restricted (based on academic merit plus additional criteria)
    • Award amount and term: A 2-year award up to $2,000 per year
  • Thomas B. Curtis Scholarship

  • Golf Course Builders Association Scholarship

    • Awarded to: Students enrolled in Urban Studies or related disciplines with a career goal of golf course construction, design, or development, and who have a 3.0+ GPA
    • Type: Restricted (based on academic merit plus additional criteria)
    • Award amount and term: A 1-year award up to $1,000
  • Jaye Haddad Memorial Scholarship

    • Awarded to: Current students with financial need and diagnosed with cancer, AIDS, AIDS-related conditions, or physical disabilities
    • Type: Restricted (based on academic merit plus additional criteria)
    • Award amount and term: A 1-year award; amount varies
    • Paper application? No. Candidates are selected in March from students registered with the UCSD Office for Students with Disabilities.
  • Kevin T. Hart Memorial Scholarship

  • LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender) Scholarships

    • Awarded to: Current gay, lesbian, and bisexual students and based on merit, need, and experiences related to sexual orientation and gender identity
    • Type: Restricted (based on academic merit plus additional criteria)
    • Award amount and term: A 1-year award up to $1,000
    • Application deadline: March 13, 2009

  • Violet and Matthew Lehrer Scholarship

  • Thurgood Marshall College Scholarship

    • Awarded to: A Marshall College sophomore, junior, or senior who's made significant contributions as a citizen and scholar and who has enhanced his/ her personal development through life experiences. See the application for minimum unit and GPA requirements for each grade level.
    • Type: Restricted (based on academic merit plus additional criteria)
    • Award amount and term: A 1-year award up to $1,500
    • Application deadline: Spring (2008 deadline not yet set)
    • Paper application? Yes. Pick it up at UCSD's Scholarship Office in winter quarter.

  • Marx and Marshall Gay, Lesbian, and Bisexual Scholarship

    • Awarded to: A gay or lesbian student who's made a significant contribution to the gay and lesbian community Preference given to students with demonstrated financial need. Recipients may reapply each year.
    • Type: Restricted (based on academic merit plus additional criteria)
    • Award amount and term: A 1-year award up to $1,000
    • Application deadline: March 13, 2009

  • Karen Moraghan Scholarship

  • Sven Peterson Memorial Scholarship

  • SAGA Scholars Program

    • Awarded to: Full-time juniors or seniors planning a fifth year and pursuing a major in science, technology, or social science. Candidates must demonstrate financial need, have a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA, be a U.S. citizen or have resident (green-card) status, and work 20+ hours per week. Preference for 1st-generation college students (not required).
    • Award amount and term: A 1-year award up to $4,000
    • Application deadline: February 6, 2009
  • Bevan Schroeder Memorial Scholarship

  • Patricia Ordonez Valva Scholarship
