Major Preparation for Transfer Students
Prospective transfer students, find out about preparing for a major at UCSD.
UCSD's academic departments specify courses you must take during the first two years of college to prepare for upper-division study in your major.
Begin coursework in your major as soon as you have selected one. We advise you to complete all lower-division major courses before you enroll at UCSD.

- See the UCSD General Catalog for a list of major prerequisites or the departmental Web site for a specific major.
- UCSD has established major preparation articulation agreements with many California community colleges. Visit the ASSIST Web site to find out how your coursework might transfer to UCSD.
- Check Impacted Majors for information about majors that have limited enrollment.
- Some majors admit transfer students to pre-major status only. For a list, see Majors That Require Pre-major Status.
