Directions, parking, and map

We encourage the use of shared or public transportation — more than 50% of UC San Diego's faculty, students, and staff do!

If you're driving, check out information about parking and permits.

You'll need to buy a permit from one of the pay stations (permit machines) located in parking lots and at the Visitor Information Centers located on Gilman Drive and at the Northpoint entrance (find more parking information and a map of pay stations).

Buy a one-day permit ($8), and note that permits in the Gilman Parking Structure have a 3-hour maximum.

Best bets for finding parking spaces (map) are in the lots off Osler Lane (604), in the theatre district (103), or on east campus (702, 703); and then you can take a stroll or catch the free shuttle to the center of campus at Gilman and Myers.

Driving directions from Interstate 5:

  • Exit at La Jolla Village Drive and go west, toward the ocean.
  • Go through the stoplight at Villa La Jolla Drive and bear right to Gilman Drive.
  • Turn right at the stoplight.
  • The Visitor Information Center is on your right — you can buy a 1-day parking permit from the machine.
  • Find your parking and make your way to the Student Services Center (map). That's where Transfer Friday is being held — coffee shops and food court are located in the adjacent Price Center.

Make your reservation online — or if you have questions, contact tborch@ucsd.edu.
