Public Speaking Seminars for All Students

This 9-week program, offered each quarter to all students (undergraduate and graduate), helps you develop public speaking and presentation skills through weekly seminars and activities covering these topics:

• Speaking confidently and with impact
• Dealing with stage fright and anxiety
• Speech preparation and practice
• Preparing visual aids and utilizing technology

• Developing appropriate nonverbal communication and body language

Seminars take place in Pepper Canyon Hall (map) and the Student Services Center (map).

• Tuesdays, 1:30 - 3 p.m. and 3:30 - 5 p.m. (2 seminars offered at each time)
  • Fall 2009: Oct. 6 - Dec. 1

Presentation Skills for Graduate Students

In response to feedback to the recent Graduate Student Survey administered by the Office of Graduate Studies, this new 9-week seminar designed specifically for graduate students will cover a range of topics to help you prepare for presenting you work in a variety of settings, including conferences, job talks, and poster sessions.

• Wednesdays, 1 - 2:30 p.m. and 3 - 4:30 p.m. (One seminar offered at each time)
  • Fall 2009: Oct. 7 - Dec. 2
