UCSD Cares Week, May 2-9, 2009, is a community service campaign for student organizations, campus centers, and departments.
This annual event raises awareness and inspires activism for local, national, and global social issues within the broader UC community.
Organizations are invited to promote their causes and showcase the impact of their community activism.
Members of the broader UC San Diego community are encouraged to raise their personal awareness on a myriad of social issues, and to take advantage of many opportunities to sign up for community service activities, donate items to charities, contribute to fundraising efforts, and engage with on- and off-campus philanthropic organizations.

This year’s Care Week will target awareness for Rady Children's Hospital, which seeks "to restore, sustain and enhance the health and developmental potential of children through excellence in care, education, research and advocacy."
The goal for adopting a specific campaign is to demonstrate the synergetic impact of a community working together, in addition to showcasing the wide array of service and activism the community regularly undertakes.
UC San Diego Cares Week 2009 is coordinated by the Center for Student Involvement and UCSD Student Foundation, and is sponsored by the Associated Students, Alumni Association, UCSD Staff Association, Student Affairs, and the UCSD Bookstore.
