About the Office for Students with Disabilities

Goals

The Office for Students with Disabilities (OSD) promotes and facilitates educational access for students with disabilities. Our goals:

  • Support retention and graduation of students with disabilities
  • Collaborate with students, faculty, staff, and community resources to provide effective academic services
  • Promote a non-discriminatory campus environment and encourage student development and independence

Who we serve

Each year we serve about 500 to 600 students with various permanent or temporary chronic disabilities that medically, cognitively, or psychologically impede academic processing. These disabilities include:

  • Learning disabilities
  • Attention Deficit Disorder
  • Visual, mobility, or hearing impairments
  • Psychological disabilities
  • Chronic systemic disorders (e.g., lupus, Crohn's disease, multiple sclerosis, diabetes)
  • Fractures, sprains, or stress injuries
